USD 240 approves office update, new scoreboard

Board members present at the USD 240 Board of Education meeting on June 17 were Rick Bremerman, Phil Aumick, Bernie Regnier, Jeremiah Van Doren, Sara Hodges and Robert Miller.

The board approved a motion to move ahead with the Tescott office project, up to a maximum of $15,000. They also approved the purchase of a scoreboard for the Bennington football field per the proposal from Athco.

The bid from Bennington Oil for 30,000 gallons of propane for the 2013-2014 school was accepted.

Approval was also given for handbooks for Tescott High School and Grade School and Bennington High School and Grade School except for sections regarding end of school year schedule and flex schedule. These items will require further discussion.

Subject to approval by the teachers association, the board added the assistant cheerleader sponsor position to the supplemental pay schedule at a three percent rate.

Attendance of three out-of-district students at BGS and one at BHS was approved for the coming year, along with all other current out-of-district students.

The resignation of Bryan Shamburg as BHS assistant track coach was accepted by the board. They approved the hiring of Barbara Hubert as district Spanish instructor and THS assistant play director; Bailey Altman as Bennington band instructor; Tom Ehlers as Tescott pre-school route bus driver; Todd Burrow as BHS baseball coach; and David Gillett as BHS assistant track coach and BJH assistant football coach.

In other business the board authorized the superintendent and the auditor to expend and transfer remaining 2012-2013 budget funds. They also tabled the issue of a baseball/softball co-operative agreement.
