Ottawa County Conservation District is excited to announce that Dru Davis will be performing at its 66th annual meeting. Born and raised in Kansas, Dru Davis is a singer/songwriter with a lively, soulful sound. His music is a mix of high-energy pop, blended with rhythm and blues or, as he calls it, “feel-good music.” Dru’s original songs weave word after word through fingerstyle guitar licks and catchy melodies, and almost all of his music is written about real-life people and events. Dru’s latest tune, “Jamaica,” is an example of how his music can stick in your head long after you hear it. When it comes to cover tunes, Dru is constantly surprising his audiences with unique song selections.
As Dru puts it, “It’s fun to do a song everyone’s heard before and play it in a way they never imagined .” When he’s not playing shows, Dru teaches guitar lessons at Midwest Music in Salina. His first album debuted in late 2013.
The District’s annual meeting is Saturday, January 25. The evening’s events will begin at 6 p.m. with a free, catered meal in the MGS gymnasium. Following the meal, there will be a short business session with presentation of the Bankers Tour awards, poster/essay contest awards, election of two supervisors, and entertainment. The meeting is free and open to the public. Those wanting to attend should make a reservation by January 17, by calling the District office at 785-392-3393 Ext. 3.
