Commodities will be distributed from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the United Church of Bennington. Please use the east door. Proof of income is required.
Bennington’s Trick or Treat for the Ottawa County Food Bank is on Saturday, Oct. 19. Those wishing to participate are to meet at the United Church of Bennington at 4:30 p.m. Costumes may be worn if desired. Volunteers to drive and help with the loading and unloading of items are needed. Call the United Church, 488-3772, if you plan to participate. A soup supper will be served after the collection of items.
John and Audrey Carson traveled to Manhattan last Monday and picked up a trailer load of tires for the Fire Department. Last Tuesday, John helped push wheelchairs around the Rolling Hills Zoo and Museum for the Long Term Care residents. On Thursday afternoon, the Carsons pressed apple juice for the LTC residents.
On Saturday, John and David Carson took a couple of tractors to the Chisholm Trail Days in Abilene. Visiting the Carsons Sunday evening were Chris Bell and friend Penny, plus some of Penny’s family. The little ones had a great time picking pumpkins out of the pumpkin patch. It was the first time they had done that and it was fun to watch.
Ruth and Nancy Rinderer and Connie Cherry met Max and Annabelle Boss at Coachlight Restaurant in Longford Sunday.
Warm Hands Warm Hearts needs gently used or new coats, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, jackets, fleece wear, and sweatshirts. These items may be taken to local churches by Sunday, Oct. 13. Distribution of these items to those in need will be from 9-2 on Oct. 19 at the Minneapolis United Methodist Church. Income guidelines are posted in several locations in each community.
